- Fighters from the Maute group in the Philippines, has pledged allegiance to Islamic State (IS). Dozens of Islamist militants stormed its prison, overwhelming the guards demanding they hand over their Christian prisoners.
- Around 93% of Venezuelans cannot afford to buy enough food while banging empty pots and brandishing signs saying "only the government is growing fatter”.
- Syrian Kurdish YPG militia (US backed armed forces) has been encircling Raqqa since November. The hopes to capture Islamic State's Syrian "capital" of Raqqa will start in the next "few days”. Deir al-Zor is ISIS’s last major foothold.
